The Finals show of Big Dog 92-7’s “The Next Big Thing” country talent competition was on Sunday, June 28 at The Pump Roadhouse in Regina, with Amy Nelson and Alex Runions of Regina and WYATT of Saskatoon aiming to convince an esteemed panel of music industry judges that they should be named “The Next Big Thing”. Following impressive performances from all three artists, WYATT was declared the winner. The group, consisting of Scott Patrick, Daniel Fortier, Bray Hudson and Cam Ewart, is hard at work on a new album, and recently released single “Next To You” to Canadian country radio. Maintaining a busy tour schedule, they will next be performing throughout the Calgary Stampede.
June 23, 2009: SaskMusic is pleased to release the Economic Impact Assessment of the Saskatchewan Music Industry. It has always been known that the Saskatchewan music industry contributes to the economic health of our province; this new study quantifies and qualifies this contribution, and illustrates exactly what goes on in the basements, recording studios and venues of our province.
The Saskatoon Reggae Festival, August 20-22, is a fun-filled family event aimed at showcasing local, national and international artists. Now in its fourth year and still growing, the festival has moved its main event to the Delta Bessborough Gardens, with secondary stages at the Odeon Events Centre and Lydia's Pub.
